"When Militarism 'Invades' Medicine...Doctatorship Happens"

Sounds reasonable to me given my and my spouse's experiences.

When Militarism 'Invades' Medicine...Doctatorship Happens

Our medical thinking has become totally militaristic. It is not just happenstance that doctors proudly assert that they seek to attack illness, combat disease, kill infective agents, and create a war on cancer or on any disease. Physicians seem so entrenched in militaristic thinking that it is not surprising that they have a long history of attacking other viable strategies that seem to be less medical or less militaristic.

In order to treat a patient, the doctor must provide a diagnosis that determines the existence of a “Western medical disease” (what might be called a WMD), even if this diagnosis is sometimes based on faulty medical intelligence or just selective intelligence.

Doctors usually choose to “shock and awe” the body. An elaborate attack ensues utilizing sophisticated technological armamentarium, including the newest painkilling drugs, antibiotics, and chemotherapeutic agents. This militaristic medical solution takes precedence over other strategies that strive to re-establish health through a coalition of forces in order to augment the body’s own defenses. Although a minority of doctors voice dissident opinions and propose less invasive treatment strategies, these voices are muted by the powerful medical industrial complex.

And after reading the whole article, what fell out of my brain was "Hell Yes".

I have no idea how Conyne is pronounced, but that won't keep me from flying it!
Have read that this type is good in sort of unstable, moderately gusty, winds: we do have those here!

Mantis Shrimp Eyes Might Inspire New High-Def Devices

They possess the animal kingdom’s most complicated eyes, capable of distinguishing between 100,000 colors — 10 times as many as humans — and seeing circular polarized light, or CPL, which can’t be detected by any other creature.

That ability was described in a study published last March in Current Biology. In the Nature Photonics paper, researchers unveil the biological underpinning of this optical wizardry, which is performed by specialized cells arranged in tightly packed tubular bundles. The cells change the rotation of photons as they pass through, converting CPL’s tight spirals to the straightforward, up-and-down wavelength of linear polarized light.

Awesome, no?
Life is stranger than science fiction, yes?

Epic humpback whale battle filmed

By Matt Walker
Editor, Earth News

The greatest battle of all...

It is the greatest animal battle on the planet, and it has finally been caught on camera.

A BBC natural history crew has filmed the "humpback whale heat run", where 15m long, 40 tonne male whales fight it out to mate with even larger females.

"Slap in the face" style disrespect and put-downs

Last night while conversing about what we could say helpful to a friend, while I was speaking bubbybird started singing along with her ipod mp3 thing and talking to my cat - note that is while I was speaking.

Not , before I spoke which might be a mistaken belief that I was done, but during me speaking.
Which means she knew I was speaking as my part of the conversation.

And note that the word in use is conversation - which means a 2-way exchange, not a one-way monologue.

I finished what I was saying, then got up and left the room.

As far as I could tell, she did not notice that I had left as she was so lost in her mp3.

And I'm the one in the family with Aspergers, so that's not her excuse.

Talk about "Slap in the face" style disrespect and put-downs ! ! !

She sent a very clear signal that I and what I have to say are meaningless compared to her mp3.

Okay, her actions have now spoken louder than her words, I now clearly know where I stand in this relationship.

I don't.
I'm worth rather less to her than her Bill Gaither Gospel songs.

And to add a twist of Irony, I bought her the damned thing.

Problem is though, it soon connects to this:

The man with undiagnosed Asperger's is having a meltdown , nervous breakdown, emotional and mental collapse, et cetera, which was brought on by physical health crash to where I Can Not work enough to pay the rent, utilities, and such.

The woman he is married to is making fun of him for it.

The man asks repeatedly for the woman to stop ridiculing him.

The woman waves her finger in the man's face and says
"I'll use ridicule on you whenever I want to. I'll keep using ridicule. And you'll just learn to live with it"

(And that connected with what my first sister in law did to my brother - she went from ridiculing him to taking a knife to him - and then my reaction to this done to me was what led to what eventually got me in the trouble I'm in now. Oh well, such is life)

That was about 3 years ago, but stuff like this brings it up to where it's like it happened 5 minutes ago.

And all the pain, heartbreak and humiliation comes flooding right back in.
As hurtful as ever.

I thought my marriage would be a place safe from that kind of thing.

What a naive imbecile I was, eh?

Yea! A new kite. But it is the last of my kite shopping.

Here's the Quantum Prism stunt kite and a kite bag which just came.
Gee, do ya wonder if that kite is big enough?

Tried using functions in GIMP which I hadn't done before to correct wide angle lens distortion on the light poles. Don't know how to fix top of lamps just by themselves.
